It aims to limit mobility of vehicles with odd-even license plate numbers from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time) in order to suppress the number of COVID-19 casesJakarta (ANTARA) - Personnel of the West Jakarta Traffic Police are deployed to monitor implementation of the odd-even license plate number policy during enforcement of restrictions on community activities.
Adjunct Commissioner Sudharmo from the West Jakarta Traffic Police Force remarked that three of his personnel were stationed near three traffic lights.
"The monitoring is (being conducted) at three locations, specifically the Ketapang, Olimo, and Simpang Asemka traffic lights," Sudharmo remarked here on Thursday.
Some 50 personnel are monitoring the three locations in two shifts: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time and the second one lasting until 8 p.m. local time.

Sudharmo admitted to the roads wearing a deserted look, and thus, no violations of the odd-even license plate number policy.
"Until now, (the situation) is still under control, (and it is) rather quiet (out here). Most who pass by have even license plate number. Most likely, the public is already aware of this policy from social media or electronic media," he stated.
Earlier, Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Police had noted that the odd-even license plate number policy for four-wheeled vehicles came back into force during the extension of community activity restrictions for the August 12-16 period.
"It aims to limit mobility of vehicles with odd-even license plate numbers from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time) in order to suppress the number of COVID-19 cases," Yogo stated here, on Tuesday, August 10.

The senior commissioner remarked that the policy was a follow-up to the government's decision to extend the enforcement of restrictions on community activities.
Yogo also spoke of his side having closed 100 community activities restriction blockade posts during the enforcement of this policy in order to make the process of monitoring vehicles more effective and efficient.
The odd-even license plate number policy is applicable for vessels plying on Sudirman Avenue, MH Thamrin Avenue, Medan Merdeka Barat Street, Majapahit Street, Gajah Mada Street, Hayam Wuruk Street, Pintu Besar Selatan Street, and Gatot Subroto Street, among others.
