Conflict resolution requires collaboration between the government, civil organizations, and academicians. This collaboration is forged not only to solve cases but to also learn how to resolve them through various policies.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy II of Human Development at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Abetnego Tarigan has stated the government has consistently worked on agrarian reforms and resolve agrarian conflicts by collaborating with academicians and civil organizations.

"Conflict resolution requires collaboration between the government, civil organizations, and academicians. This collaboration is forged not only to solve cases but to also learn how to resolve them through various policies," Tarigan noted in a press statement received here on Saturday.

Tarigan highlighted that thus far, KSP had received 1,0191 cases of agrarian conflict, out of which 137 were designated as priority cases to be solved this year.

Tarigan noted that one of the aspects that hindered the resolution of agrarian conflicts was sectoral ego amongst ministries or institutions.

He opined that priority monitoring was necessary, so that ministries and institutions can work within the same space at the same time.

Researcher from Sajogyo Institute Ganies Oktaviana pointed to other on-field challenges in conducting agrarian reforms.

One of the issues is the difficulty in releasing village settlements from forest and land areas that were formerly assets of PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN), a state-owned plantation company, in Sigi District, Central Sulawesi, and Malang District, East Java.

Agrarian Law Expert Prof. Maria S. W. Sumardjono also opined that the distribution of land, which is PTPN's asset, was replete with challenges since it would require special efforts.

Earlier, KSO Chief Moeldoko had sought greater involvement of all ministries and government institutions in agrarian reforms.

This is because land ownership problems cannot be resolved partially or by one or two groups.
