Jakarta (ANTARA) - The index of the Farmers Exchange Rate (NTP) rose by 0.30 percent to reach 108.67 in January 2022, as compared to 108.34 in December 2021, the l Statistics Indonesia (BPS) stated.

"The increase in NTP in January 2022 was attributed to an increase in the price index for agricultural production, which was higher than the increase in the price index for goods and services consumed by households as well as production costs and additional capital goods," Head of BPS Margo Yuwono noted at a press conference held virtually in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Yuwono remarked that in January 2022, the index received by farmers rose by 0.81 percent, higher than the increase in the index paid of 0.50 percent.

"Several commodity prices also affect the increase in the index received by farmers, specifically grain, palm oil, broilers, and coffee," BPS Head Margo Yuwono remarked.

Moreover, the price component paid by farmers also increased due to rising prices of several commodities: broiler meat, cooking oil, rice, and filtered cigarettes.

Yuwono explained that the increase in NTP in January 2022 was influenced by the rise in NTP in three agricultural sub-sectors: the food crops sub-sector by 0.98 percent; the people's plantation sub-sector by 0.27 percent, and the livestock sub-sector by 0.43 percent.

Meanwhile, the fisheries sub-sector was relatively stable while the horticultural crops sub-sector recorded a 2.95-percent decrease.
