"Cases of domestic violence and others are mainly caused by economic factors," the ministry's expert staff for inter-institutional relations, Rini Handayani, said during an online talk, which was accessed from here on Friday.
Therefore, it is important to boost women's empowerment in entrepreneurship from a gender perspective, she added.
Women must be given the opportunity to increase their self-actualization so they develop the ability to improve their quality of life, she said.
This could also help increase family incomes, she noted.
With families becoming stronger in terms of economy, including the social and cultural aspects, it is hoped that cases of violence would decrease. "Because many cases of violence were committed by the closest people," Handayani said.
In addition, children would also enjoy their right to education so the country's dropout and child marriage rates would decrease.

Earlier, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, invited all elements of the country to unite and strive together for gender equality in order to realize an equal world for women and men.
"Until now, women are still categorized as a vulnerable group who experience stigmatization, marginalization, gender-based violence, and discrimination, as well as inequality in getting access, participation, control, and development benefits that are equal to men," she pointed out.
According to her, joint hard work is needed to eliminate various forms of discrimination and gender gaps and create superior and competitive human resources.
The minister pointed out that the patriarchal culture is the main root of inequalities experienced by women, even though the 1945 Constitution and other laws have guaranteed protection and equality to all Indonesian people, including women.
