Opportunities of the digital economy have begun to develop in villages
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration stated that village funds support the development of digital-based smart villages.

"There is a specificity of the village funds related to smart villages. Every year, Rp16 billion is budgeted from the village funds for telematics facilities and infrastructure," Head of the Agency for Information Development of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Ivanovich Agusta, stated at a webinar titled "Creating Digital-Based Smart Villages" accessed here on Wednesday.

Agusta noted that the development of digital-based smart villages is included in the 17th goal of the Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He remarked that one aspect of the 17th Village SDGs is the availability of high-speed internet networks, accessible village socio-economic information, and village statistical data, especially Village SDGs data.

"This is the aspect that is emphasized in the development of smart villages in Indonesia," he stated.

According to Agusta, in the creation of smart villages, digitalization is directed at increasing electrification, internet networks, and the digital economy.

He expressed optimism that the development of digital-based smart villages would boost digital economic activities in villages.

"Opportunities of the digital economy have begun to develop in villages," he said.

On the same occasion, Research Professor for Politics and Government from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), R. Siti Zuhro, stated that the development of digital-based smart villages is a development that educates the community and increases community participation and awareness.
