Alhamdulillah (thank God), the Baznas Research Scholarship is consistently held every year, in addition to other scholarship programs provided by Baznas
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has announced registrations for the 2022 Baznas Research Scholarship program, which has been launched as part of its commitment to the utilization of zakat (alms) for education.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), the Baznas Research Scholarship is consistently held every year, in addition to other scholarship programs provided by Baznas," Baznas head Noor Achmad said at a webinar, which was followed from here on Friday.

The program is a research funding program for students pursuing diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses, he informed.

The program is open to active students who are preparing their final project to complete their diploma, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree.

The prospective beneficiaries are Indonesian citizens from all universities and majors with a minimum accreditation of B set by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT). Registrations for the program will be open from September 5 to 26, 2022.

The scholarship program aims to provide funds for prospective research on zakat, develop research on zakat for the benefit of Muslims, and develop innovations in the collection, distribution, and utilization of zakat, Achmad explained.

"Baznas has a strong commitment to the world of education. Aside from providing access to proper education for those in need, Baznas is also determined to develop the zakat ecosystem through research that is beneficial to the people," he added.

He said that the program will not only provide scholarships but also monthly research exposures, and the public will be able to access the results for free.

Baznas’ head for distribution and utilization, Saidah Sakwan, said that under the program, a research fund of Rp4 million will be provided for undergraduate students, Rp7 million for master's students, and Rp10 million for doctoral students.

According to her, the program could be realized because of zakat, infaq (disbursements), and sedekah (simple alms) funds that Baznas received from the community.
