Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono praised South Korea's plan to participate in building a clean water system in Indonesia's new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.

The new capital city will be located in Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan Province.

"We laud South Korea's plan to participate in building a clean water supply system at IKN Nusantara," he noted in a statement received here Tuesday.

The minister remarked that the initial plan for construction will start in 2024. However, the ministry is optimistic of expediting the process of preparing detailed technical plans to start the installation in 2023.

Hadimuljono also sought the South Korean government's support in the preparation of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) on May 18-24, 2022, in Bali.

On November 10, 2022, a Framework Agreement for the 10th WWF was signed between the Indonesian government and the World Water Council (WWC).

"We will work carefully because the preparation time is less than two years. We hope that the South Korean government would actively participate in helping us to prepare for the World Water Forum," he noted.

Earlier, Minister Hadimuljono and South Korean Minister of Environment Han Wha Jin signed a Joint Statement on the Green Transition Initiative in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday, as part of the G20 Summit event.

The joint statement is a follow-up to the Green Infrastructure Development Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed on March 15, 2022, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

This cooperation in the field of green infrastructure encompasses the management of water resources and supply of clean water, construction of energy-efficient buildings, eco-smart cities, as well as identification and infrastructure for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
