Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has allowed the Ummah Party to contest the 2024 General Elections after it passed administrative re-verification and met the requirements for participation in the elections.

"(KPU) determines the Ummah Party as a participant in the 2024 General Elections for (contesting for seats in) the House of Representatives (DPR ) and the Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD)," KPU chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari announced here on Friday.

The Ummah Party has been assigned ballot number 24 for the 2024 General Elections.

Earlier on December 14, 2022, the Ummah Party had been declared ineligible to participate in the general elections after it failed in the factual verification stage in two provinces, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and North Sulawesi.

The Ummah Party reported KPU to the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) on December 16 over the dispute regarding the factual verification results.

After two mediation sessions held by Bawaslu, both parties agreed to a re-verification. The agreement was outlined in the Bawaslu Decision No. 006 / PS. Reg/Bawaslu/XII/2022.

After administrative and factual re-verifications in NTT and North Sulawesi, and based on the KPU’s recapitulation results, the Ummah Party qualified in 19 regions in NTT, while the minimum requirement is 17 regions.

In North Sulawesi, the Ummah Party qualified in 11 regions against a minimum requirement of 11 regions, thereby meeting the requirements.

Thus, the KPU declared the Ummah Party qualified to participate in the general elections, taking the number of participating political parties to 18.

The 18 political parties include National Awakening Party (PKB), which has been assigned ballot number 1, Gerindra (2), PDI-Perjuangan (3), Golkar (4), NasDem (5), Labour Party (6), Gelora Party (7), PKS (8), Nusantara Awakening Party (PKN) (9), Hanura (10), Garuda Party (11), PAN (12), PBB (13), Democratic Party (14), PSI (15), Perindo (16), PPP (17), and Ummah Party (24).

They further comprise six local political parties from Aceh—Partai Nanggroe Aceh (PNA) (18), Partai Generasi Atjeh Beusaboh Thaat dan Taqwa (Gabthat) (19), Partai Darul Aceh (20), Partai Aceh (21), Partai Adil Sejahtera (22), and Partai Solidaritas Independen Rakyat Aceh or Aceh People's Independent Solidarity Party (Sira) (23).
