"KPK's efforts to eradicate corruption are not restricted to preventive measures. We are also taking an educational approach to (promote anti-corruption values among) the public," Bahuri informed in his speech at the 2023 Anti-Corruption Film Festival (Acffest) in Jakarta on Friday.
He extended praise to the event's committees, film experts, and Indonesian film-makers for their participation in efforts to eradicate corruption in their own way.
The 2023 Acffest constitutes one of KPK's concrete actions for providing anti-corruption education to the public.
Bahuri also expressed the hope that the event will be a stage for national film-makers to disseminate information on corruption eradication among the public.
The commission's head attached high importance to education, saying that it would not simply serve as a precious tool in life, but also in the afterlife.
"And the Law on the National Education System (Sisdiknas) has outlined that the goal of education is to realize the true quality of human resources," he added.
This year's Acffest is themed “Your Voice, Our Voice, Conscience” and is based on the premise that Indonesia will prepare to welcome a grand event this year -- the general elections in 2024.
In his speech, Bahuri also urged political parties to not buy votes, as such a practice would interfere with the country choosing trustworthy leaders.
He called upon all people to collaborate to realize the country's goals, which align with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution: to protect the entire country, promote public welfare, educate the nation, and actively take part in maintaining global peace, based on social justice and the dream of eternal freedom and peace.
