“The (upkeeping of) 14 national roads in the 2012 fiscal year were handed over to the Jakarta Provincial Government, and we must take care of them, especially to welcome the ASEAN Summit," he stated at the Jakarta City Hall here on Tuesday.
According to Hartono, several protocol road sections out of the total targeted 14 sections had been repaired ahead of the ASEAN Summit.
"(The road sections) in Cawang and Pesing have been improved. Later, I will check those at Jakarta's borders," he stated.
The Jakarta Provincial Government is continuing to repair several roads ahead of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, out of which one activity is scheduled to take place in Jakarta in September.
"In the first stage, we are improving (the road) from Ratu Plaza to the traffic light of Bank Indonesia," Hartono had stated earlier on Sunday (May 7).
Hartono said his side had directly reviewed the road repair work in front of Ratu Plaza, Jenderal Sudirman Boulevard, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (May 6) evening.
The improvement will continue to other road sections next week.
It is expected that the improved road sections can increase comfort and ensure smooth travel for delegates of ASEAN member countries and partners in Jakarta.
The road improvement includes beautification of all paths to be covered by the delegates and state heads.
Furthermore, Hartono urged the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) to optimize advertisements as a means of promoting the ASEAN Summit.
The Jakarta Provincial Government will also invite school children to wear traditional attire to welcome the heads of state.
