"We will focus on promoting concrete actions," said M. Saparis Soedarjanto, the ministry's Director of Watershed, in Jakarta on Monday.
"We have been implementing programs for the upstream sector and have identified the best practices that have been implemented successfully on the field," he added.
He said that the experience-sharing plan is in line with Indonesia's principle of demonstrating concrete examples by genuinely carrying out programs.
A number of programs implemented by the government led to expected results, such as the revival of water springs that were about to dry up, he said.
He highlighted that a social forestry program in Gorontalo province successfully restored a dried-up water spring.
"Our conservation efforts in the upstream have led to the restoration of a water spring. This shows that our water conservation programs are closely related to utilization and control," he added.
By sharing its experiences in conserving water, Indonesia will be able to show the international community the measures it has taken to deal with the impacts of climate change on water resources, he remarked.
At the global water forum, Indonesia will share its experiences in increasing water availability through forest and land rehabilitation.
Soedarjanto said that the rehabilitation of forests and land is among the focal points against climate change outlined in the Paris Agreement.
