Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) underscored the need to be selective in providing the Golden Visa facility to foreign nationals based on the extent of their contributions.

"Remember, it (Golden Visa) is only for good quality travelers, so it must be really selective and consider the contribution," he stated at the Grand Launch of Golden Visa in Jakarta on Thursday.

The president stressed that the facility must not be used to allow people to threaten the country's security or those who do not provide benefits to enter.

The president noted that few countries currently have good economic growth, maintained political stability, demographic dividends, and abundant natural resources.

"Therefore, Indonesia must be a destination country for promising investment and a destination for global talents," he remarked.

According to the president, these will have a positive impact on aspects such as capital gains, job opportunities, technology transfer, and human resources quality improvement.

The president expressed hope that information about the Golden Visa facility would be disseminated widely as soon as possible.

He is also upbeat that ambassadors of friendly countries would convey the information regarding the Golden Visa policy to their people to intensify economic cooperation and bolster relations between countries.

Golden Visa is a new form of Second Home Visa that targets investors, global business players, global talents, and foreign tourists who meet the criteria.

Foreign investors who are Golden Visa holders can have a residence permit in Indonesia for five to 10 years, with certain investment amounts required.

The visa targets those who will have a positive impact on the country's economy, one of which is through investment, both corporations and individuals.
