JDP Spokesperson Yan Christian Warinussy on Monday evening said that the armed criminal group's killing is effectively a violation of Article 338 in conjunction with Articles 430 and 351 of the Criminal Code.
Warinussy condemned the criminal group's accusation that Conning was a foreign intelligence agent as baseless and completely misguided.
"JDP regretted (the group) for taking matters into their own hands and killing the New Zealander pilot," the spokesperson said.
He said that the police should launch a collaborative investigation with the National Commission on Human Rights to determine the killing as a crime against humanity.
Since Conning's killing has attracted the global spotlight, Warinussy expected the Indonesian Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to lead the investigation process.

"JDP also appealed to President Joko Widodo and General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to open the access for the Human Rights Commission to investigate the extra-judicial killing," he stated.
Papua Peace Network will monitor the progress of the investigation into the killing of pilot Conning as a potential human rights violation, he remarked.
Chief of the joint military-police's Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2024, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, earlier confirmed that a Papuan armed criminal group is behind the murder of pilot Conning.
The pilot, who works for aviation company Intan Angkasa Air Service, was intercepted and shot when he landed the MD 500 helicopter in Alana Sub-district, Mimika District, Central Papua, on Monday at 10 a.m. local time (UTC +9).
After killing Conning, the criminal group burned his lifeless body along with the helicopter. The task force confirmed that the four passengers who boarded the chopper during the incident had survived.
