"Mr. Prabowo has given me a mandate to lead the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and God willing, I will be accompanied by a deputy minister," Mu'ti told reporters here on Monday.
Mu'ti said he informed Prabowo at the meeting about his readiness to accept the mandate.
His given mandate to lead the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education aims to advance Indonesia, as education is the key to building the nation.
Mu'ti expressed his intent to make education a driver of a greater Indonesia.
"Earlier, he conveyed several aspects on how I can work as well as possible later," he remarked.
When asked about the issue of the split of the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry, Mu'ti said he was unaware of it and only given the mandate to become the primary and secondary education minister.
"I do not know yet about this, but I was entrusted by him to be the minister of primary and secondary education," he remarked.
Earlier, President-elect Prabowo Subianto summoned several figures believed to be his ministerial candidates for the upcoming government.
Many figures were summoned to Prabowo's private residence on Kertanegara Street Number 4 in Jakarta on Monday afternoon.
Figures believed to be the ministerial candidates in Prabowo's upcoming cabinet comprise Prasetyo Hadi, Sugiono, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Natalius Pigai, Yandri Susanto, and Fadli Zon.
In addition, the names of other prospective candidates are Nusron Wahid, Saefullah Yusuf, Maruarar Sirait, Abdul Kadir Karding, Wihaji, Teuku Riefky Harsya, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Arifatul Choiru Fauzi, Yassierli, Satryo Soemantri, Tito Karnavian, Zulkifli Hasan, Bahlil Lahadalia, and Abdul Mu’ti.
