"One of my tasks is to establish international communication related to moderation and tolerance," Miftah informed at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
He will also oversee issues related to harmony in Indonesia.
According to Miftah, the issues are interesting and crucial since the country has 17 thousand islands, 1,700 ethnic groups, 736 languages, and 6 religions.
"If not addressed properly, this will be tricky. We should be able to maintain conducive situations related to harmony," he said.
As an initial measure, he plans to build a moderation house. His party will also gather all problems related to religious harmony to find the best possible solution.
