"Poverty alleviation is not merely accommodating the poverty, but eradication. It is not just giving money but empowering our people through inclusive development, starting from the industrial sector and also investment policies," he expounded at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
He said that efforts to empower the poor will not only focus on providing direct economic assistance but also increasing their capacity as human resources to improve the quality of life of the community.
The efforts could involve providing competency training on managing cooperatives or encouraging technology training in the form of upskilling and reskilling, he added.
Sudjatmiko assured that he will initiate more programs to empower the poor and strengthen existing mechanisms such as Direct Cash Assistance (BLT).
"President Prabowo Subianto has promised to keep the BLT program and even add more assistance through an elderly card. We will immediately synchronize and accelerate the program to be more precise," he said.
He further said his agency will communicate with the related ministries and institutions to implement the master plan for poverty alleviation.
One of the focuses of the plan is to collect objective data on poverty in Indonesia, he informed.
Data synchronization between institutions and other ministries is expected to help generate more effective policies for the community, Sudjatmiko explained.
On Tuesday, Prabowo inaugurated Sudjatmiko as head of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency based on Presidential Decree Number 145/P of 2024 concerning the Appointment of the Head and Deputy Head of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency.
He was sworn in with the deputy heads of the agency, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang and Iwan Sumule.
