Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is utilizing online training to meet the digital talent creation target amid the government's budget efficiency policy.

Head of the ministry's Human Resources Development Agency, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said that the online training mechanism is similar to the one implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, with all activities carried out using teleconferencing applications.

"The number (digital talent target) remains the same; it does not change. However, it (the training) is converted to online," he informed at the Cikarang Information and Communication Technology Training and Development Center, Bekasi, West Java, on Wednesday.

According to Pudjianto, it is possible to offer digital skills training online to produce digital talents in Indonesia.

There are only a few materials that require face-to-face activities so the budget spending can be more targeted.

For 2025, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has set a target of producing 100 thousand digital talents through its digital talent creation program, namely the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS), which is available to the general public.

The program comprises Thematic Academy (TA), Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA), Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA), Talent Scout Academy (TSA), Vocational School Graduate Academy (VSGA), Government Transformation Academy (GTA), and Professional Academy (PROA).

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, said that the government is working with several parties to address the shortage of digital talents in Indonesia.

According to Patria, the government is collaborating with several global tech companies, universities, and communities to provide training to and increase the skills of digital talents.

He said that Indonesia will need 9 million digital talents by 2030, but currently, their number stands at about 2.5 million.
