Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto revealed that Qatar has pledged to invest US$2 billion in Indonesia’s development and strategic projects through the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara).

The president made the announcement during a doorstop interview following his participation in the CEO Forum held at the initiative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday (April 13).

"I believe the meeting was excellent and very productive, as we agreed to step up cooperation. Qatar will invest in Danantara, establishing a joint fund valued at US$2 billion," he remarked, as quoted from a video broadcast in Jakarta.

President Prabowo emphasized that this investment commitment reflects the success of his government's economic diplomacy and signals Qatar’s willingness to elevate its partnership with Indonesia.

"I think this commitment marks notable progress," he affirmed.

Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait, who accompanied the president to the forum, confirmed the value of the expected investment.

Also in attendance were Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Investment Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani, Culture Minister Fadli Zon, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan.

President Prabowo also made the most of the fourth leg of his Middle East diplomatic tour in Doha to hold a meeting with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

At the Amiri Diwan Palace, the two leaders touched upon their countries' bilateral ties and witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding on Strategic Dialogues between the Governments of Indonesia and Qatar.

After wrapping up his Qatar visit, the Indonesian president flew to Amman to meet with his longtime friend King Abdullah II of Jordan. The Jordan visit is expected to be the end of his diplomatic tour.
