Amman (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine, and called for an immediate ceasefire during their meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman, Jordan, on Monday.

"We talked about Gaza, how we can help in the humanitarian aspect. We also called for an immediate ceasefire," Prabowo told the press after the meeting.

He emphasized his commitment to promoting peace and expanding humanitarian assistance for Palestinians affected by the conflict.

"We will offer everything that we can provide to accelerate the peace process," he affirmed.

In addition to Gaza, the two leaders discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in several fields, such as education, science, technology, and economy.

According to Prabowo, Indonesia imports most of its phosphate and potassium from Jordan for fertilizer purposes.

On Monday, Prabowo and King Abdullah II also led a bilateral meeting between the governments of Indonesia and Jordan at Al Husseiniya Palace.

During the meeting, three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and one cooperation pact were signed by the two countries. The MoUs and pact cover cooperation in defense, research and education, religious affairs, and agriculture.

Jordan is the last stop in Prabowo's five-nation Middle East tour, which started on April 9, 2025. He visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar earlier.

The President is scheduled to return to Jakarta after wrapping up his visit to Amman.

At a press conference in Jakarta before leaving for the tour, President Prabowo said that one of the goals of his tour was to consult with other nations on the situation in Gaza and Indonesia's plan to be more active in helping the Palestinian people.
