She said that in response to ongoing global dynamics, President Prabowo has instructed his Cabinet to proceed with a strategy based on diplomacy, regional solidarity, and long-term diversification.
"Indonesia's market diversification is not merely a response to former U.S. President Donald Trump's policies, but also a continuation of Indonesia's long-term strategy to expand market access, increase trade resilience, and promote job creation," she said in a statement released on Thursday.
On Wednesday, delegates from the European Parliament visited the Ministry of Trade's office in Jakarta to discuss the finalization of the IEU-CEPA negotiations.
During their visit to Indonesia, the delegates engaged in discussions on politics, economics, trade, and investment.
Putri stated that international trade negotiations are one of the Ministry of Trade’s priorities to expand global market reach and support the export of Indonesian commodities.
She affirmed that she is actively monitoring the progress of negotiations, particularly the IEU-CEPA, which is expected to be finalized by mid-year.
"The value of Indonesia-EU trade reached US$30.2 billion in 2024," she noted.
She further explained that, considering the positive trade growth of 5.7 percent between Indonesia and the EU from 2019 to 2024, the CEPA could generate even greater benefits for both sides.
Regarding bilateral meetings between Indonesia and EU member countries, Putri said she has met with the EU Ambassador to Indonesia, Denis Chaibi, as well as several ambassadors from EU countries, including France, Sweden, Hungary, Cyprus, and Bulgaria.
The ambassadors expressed their support for the completion of the IEU-CEPA talks. Over the past nine years, there have been 19 rounds of negotiations.
The deputy minister also expressed hope for improved market access for Indonesian products and smoother exports to the European market—and vice versa.
