"The Indonesian Baznas truly appreciates the form of cooperation established through this meeting. We view this collaboration as a tangible contribution of Indonesia to the global landscape of preaching and humanitarian affairs," Baznas Deputy Head Mokhamad Mahdum noted in a statement here on Tuesday.
During the meeting, which took place in Jakarta on Monday (April 21), he affirmed that Indonesia remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle for independence from Israeli invaders.
Mahdum affirmed that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had called on the alms agency and the Indonesian public not to waver in advocating for Palestine's interests.
"We have a strong commitment to providing assistance to all Palestinian citizens, and we keep following updates on the situation in Palestine," the official emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian association chairman, Nawwaf Takruri, lauded the Indonesian government and public for their unwavering support and assistance to his people, who are currently suffering due to Israel's occupation.
He also specifically addressed Baznas, praising its crucial role in alleviating the burden on Palestinian residents by distributing alms and various aid items, including food, beverages, and medicines.
"Gaza is currently grappling with an extraordinary situation, where people are displaced and lacking access to food and water. Moreover, homes, schools, hospitals, and places of worship are in ruins," he pointed out.
In line with this, Takruri emphasized the importance of Baznas ensuring that the funds and assistance it collects are accurately distributed only to those in need.
"I hope that Baznas will be able to distribute assistance directly in Gaza, and we are ready to facilitate such a visit," he remarked.
