Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) -

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has prepared to accommodate a surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday period.

The airport's acting general manager, Wahyudi, said on Saturday that the increase is expected, especially following long holiday periods in May 2025, such as Vesak Day and Ascension Day, when the airport handled over 2 million passengers.

"Based on current trends, we anticipate increased traffic during the Eid al-Adha holiday as well. Our data projects that 339,523 passengers will pass through Ngurah Rai Airport from June 5 to 9," he said.

With an estimated daily average of 67,905 passengers, the airport has made several preparations to optimize its services.

"If traffic rises by around 10 percent compared to normal days, we are ready with strategic steps to ensure smooth operations and a comfortable experience for all airport users," Wahyudi added.

Measures include increased supervision at service points where queues tend to form, as well as monitoring vehicle and passenger flows at both domestic and international terminals to maintain efficiency.

The airport has also strengthened coordination with airlines and ground handling providers to ensure on-time departures and arrivals, and to confirm the readiness of all operational facilities.

The peak of passenger movement during the Eid al-Adha holiday is expected on Sunday, June 8, when traffic may reach 75,199 passengers.

“Bali is also entering its peak travel season, with school holidays for domestic travelers and summer vacations for international tourists. During the same period last year, we served an average of 69,000 to over 73,000 passengers per day,” Wahyudi noted.
