Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR), Muazzim Akbar, has urged the government, especially regional governments, to boost promotion of the Free Health Screening (CKG) program.

This is deemed necessary to improve the public’s awareness of the importance of health screenings to detect diseases early.

In a statement received here on Tuesday, he underlined that the program, which was initiated by President Prabowo, should be utilized by all parties, including the health workers themselves.

"The government wants to provide the best services. Through this program, we can detect the health conditions of all Indonesian citizens," he said.

Akbar made his statement in response to the low level of public participation in the CKG program, as seen in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

In the district, he continued, from a total of 750,000 residents, only 1 percent have participated in the program.

The Indonesian government rolled out the CKG program on February 10, 2025, aimed at improving the health quality of Indonesians, as well as reducing the burden caused by preventable diseases.

The Ministry of Health has expressed optimism about the CKG program covering 100 million people this year, given the current pace of the program and its scheduled rollout in schools in August.

At a press conference on Thursday (June 12), the director general of primary and community health at the ministry, Maria Endang Sumiwi, said that in the last month, 200,000 citizens per day have participated in the program.

“We hope to reach 5–6 million (participants per month), so that in the remaining months (of 2025), there are still 6 or 7 months left, we can get an additional 30–40 million. That’s half of our target,” she added.

Further, around 50 million schoolchildren will be reached once the CKG program is rolled out in schools, which would likely bring the total number of participants to 100 million, she explained.
