This commitment was conveyed by vice president of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Lukasz Gwiazdowski, after meeting with Indonesian business actors in Poland.
Speaking here on Tuesday, Gwiazdowski said other potential areas of economic cooperation that Jakarta and Warsaw could explore are sustainable transportation, waste management, and railway technology.
The two countries are regarded as the biggest economies in their respective regions: Poland in central and eastern Europe, and Indonesia in the ASEAN region, he noted.
This year, they will mark 70 years of diplomatic relations, during which they have carried out extensive cooperation in several sectors, particularly education and culture, he added.
The two nations will need to outline their areas of cooperation in business and economy for the next five to 10 years, he said, adding that they could also explore collaboration in the food sector.
The Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), which is currently being negotiated, could hopefully pave the way for Indonesia and Poland to increase bilateral trade and investment, he added.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said recently that the IEU-CEPA will be finalized soon, considering the productive rounds of negotiation.
The Indonesian government is aiming to complete the IEU-CEPA in the first half of this year, he informed in May 2025.
Earlier on April 29, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the IEU-CEPA would serve as a strategic instrument for Indonesia to sustain its economic growth in light of US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy.
