Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's government has blocked access to three digital services, including one from eBay, due to their failure to register with authorities.

The other two services affected belong to Bath & Body Works and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, as confirmed by a press statement from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs on Sunday.

According to Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the ministry, the blockages are an administrative sanction against companies registered as Private Scope Electronic System Providers (PSEs).

Sabar stated that the ministry had issued notifications, warning letters, and press releases regarding the obligation to register digital services before taking action.

"However, by the determined deadline, these three PSEs showed no effort to fulfill their obligations," he explained.

He further elaborated that this measure aims to foster a more orderly and responsible national digital space while ensuring equality of obligations among all PSEs.

"This is also an effort to protect the public as users of digital services from various risks associated with unregistered services," Sabar added.

The ministry is urging all PSEs to register their electronic services before offering them in Indonesia and to report any change to their registered service information.

Registration and updates can be completed on the ministry's website at s.komdigi.go.id/pendaftaranpseprivat.
