Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar has voiced his support for building the North Bali International Airport, which will be located in Buleleng, Bali.

“If this airport is developed quickly, empowerment efforts will also accelerate, which will motivate us. Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will grow, and the creative economy will thrive,” Minister Iskandar noted in a statement here on Tuesday.

He remarked that the airport's development in northern Bali is expected to boost cultural empowerment, especially given that Bali has already met three key conditions to become a developed region.

“Bali supports legal certainty. Wherever there is progress, it starts with legal certainty. That brings trust. When trust emerges, development follows,” Iskandar explained.

He noted that meeting those three conditions is closely linked to the richness of Balinese culture, as seen in its traditions and community behavior.

Iskandar highlighted that the first requirement pertained to legal certainty. “The second is a strong foundation of traditions and culture,” he added.

The third condition entails Bali’s adequate transportation access, which underpins its development potential.

However, Iskandar emphasized the need for two airports on the island to accelerate Bali’s transformation into a fully developed region.

“If there is only one airport, development will not progress fast enough. At least two access points are needed. That access must be fulfilled,” he stressed.

His statement aligns with a previous remark by President Prabowo Subianto, who expressed his support for building the North Bali International Airport.

President Prabowo stated that the airport construction plan aligns with the vision to transform Bali into "The New Singapore" or "The New Hong Kong."
