As of Thursday, the Indonesian team’s medal tally has reached 22 gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals, according to head of the Polri’s public information bureau, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko.
“So far, our highest contributing sports are judo, cycling, and taekwondo, each delivering gold medals for Indonesia,” he informed in a statement released in Jakarta on Friday.
He said that the achievement has brought pride and honor to the nation and the police institution.
“This accomplishment is the result of hard work, dedication, and the fighting spirit demonstrated by Polri personnel. It proves that our officers can not only maintain security but also represent Indonesia’s strength on the global stage,” he added.
He said that the success reflects Polri’s ongoing efforts to develop competitive and high-quality human resources.
“Polri members have proven their capability in performing primary duties and excelling in international sports events. This achievement boosts our morale to continue nurturing talent within the force,” he affirmed.
The medal breakdown is as follows:
- Judo: 6 golds, 1 silver, 3 bronzes
- Cycling: 6 golds, 4 silvers, 5 bronzes
- Taekwondo: 5 golds, 2 silvers, 2 bronzes
- Volleyball: 1 gold
- Golf: 4 golds, 2 silvers, 4 bronzes.
The WPFG is a biennial event where active and retired police officers and firefighters from around the world compete for medals across a wide range of sports. This year’s edition features over 8,500 participants from 70 countries.
The Indonesian contingent at the event has 97 Polri officers, who are competing in eight sports: volleyball, basketball, swimming, athletics, golf, cycling, judo, and taekwondo.
