Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 30th National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) should serve as a motivation for all sectors to pursue research and innovation to advance Indonesia, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) stated here on Sunday.

“Thirty years of Hakteknas is a reminder that innovation is the key to elevating Indonesia’s status from a developing country. BRIN calls on academics, industries, the government, and the public to work hand in hand to advance technological development for the welfare of all,” BRIN Head Laksana Tri Handoko said.

He affirmed that BRIN is committed to expanding research opportunities, promoting collaborative research, and applying research results from various stakeholders into practical use to deliver tangible benefits.

These efforts align with the commemoration’s theme, which emphasizes sustainable and inclusive innovation.

“A strong research ecosystem can only be achieved when the nation’s potential is fully synergized, from start to finish,” Handoko noted.

He underscored the importance of aligning technological advances with global challenges, such as energy transition, food security, healthcare, and climate change mitigation. BRIN, he said, has dedicated significant research and resources to address these strategic issues.

To further spur innovation, BRIN is encouraging greater youth involvement, using the commemoration as a momentum to inspire participation.

According to Handoko, the 2025 Hakteknas should reignite the spirit of research, development, and innovation that yields concrete results -- supported by talent development, inclusive and efficient research infrastructure, and schemes that facilitate impactful ideas and researches.

He emphasized that the nation must not dwell on past achievements but continue pushing forward to realize the vision of a Golden Indonesia by 2045, with science as the foundation of development.

President Prabowo Subianto also called on scientists and researchers to collaborate and advance the national research industry to improve public welfare.

He further encouraged scientists to overcome challenges and gain control over major industries such as automotive, electronics, and semiconductors.
