Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara’s Investment Management Agency, Dony Oskaria, confirmed in Jakarta on Friday that the assessment process is ongoing and will be completed soon.
He also revealed plans to include the completion of the Whoosh project in Danantara's Corporate Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) this year.
"We are currently exploring. Of course, we will finalize the process, as the President Director of PT KAI also conveyed to the House of Representatives yesterday. We will complete it soon, and it will be included in our RKAP this year," said Oskaria.
He also confirmed that a meeting with PT KAI had already taken place.
The KCJB project, a national strategic project (PSN), has been in the spotlight due to the debt PT KAI must bear.
The total project cost reached US$7.27 billion, or approximately Rp118.9 trillion, including a cost overrun of US$1.2 billion. Since its inception in 2016, the project has drawn public attention due to its financial complexity.
During a hearing with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), which oversees trade and state-owned enterprises, in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 20, PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin proposed restructuring the Whoosh project.
Rasyidin said his team would also examine problems in the Indonesia-China High-Speed Rail (KCIC) project, which he described as a “time bomb.”
"We will coordinate with Danantara to resolve the KCIC issue and then continue with the improvement and restructuring of existing portfolios," said Rasyidin.
