The meeting at Merdeka Palace was attended by Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait, and Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
Others included Food Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono, the head of the National Development and Special Investigations Agency (Bappisus) Aris Marsudiyanto, and state utility PLN chief Darmawan Prasodjo.
Airlangga said the president called for a limited cabinet meeting focused on energy, while Aris noted that fuel supply problems at private stations would also be discussed alongside renewable energy transition plans.
Energy Minister Bahlil urged private gas stations to coordinate with state-owned Pertamina to secure supply and prevent disruptions. He stressed fuel is a vital commodity and should remain under state oversight to protect public interest.
“This concerns people’s daily lives. Industries tied to essential needs must be monitored by the state to keep things running smoothly,” Bahlil told reporters at the presidential palace.
He said the government had increased fuel import quotas for private stations by 10 percent in 2025 to help stabilize supply. The move is aimed at preventing shortages and easing pressure on distribution networks.
Bahlil also emphasized the importance of collaboration with Pertamina to ensure availability, noting that energy security is a national priority.
He said he had led a coordination meeting with Pertamina and appointed a special team to monitor distribution and provide regular updates.
Officials said discussions also covered policies to support Indonesia’s long-term shift toward renewable energy, with the government seeking balanced solutions to secure current fuel needs while building a sustainable energy system.
