Jakarta authorities on Thursday sprayed 4,000 liters of water mist across key city locations to reduce air pollution and raise public awareness ahead of the 2025 Jakarta Eco Future Fest (JEFF).
The initiative, led by the Jakarta Environment Office (DLH), targeted high-traffic areas including Dukuh Atas, TB Simatupang, Fatmawati, Bundaran HI, MH Thamrin, and Lapangan Banteng, according to DLH Head Asep Kuswanto.
“Air pollution remains a major challenge for Jakarta. Through this water mist initiative, we aim to lower pollutant concentrations while reminding citizens of the importance of maintaining air quality,” Kuswanto said, Thursday.
The misting primarily helps reduce fine particulate matter (PM2.5), contributing to healthier public spaces.
Mobile video screens displayed educational messages on pollution control, encouraging residents to conduct regular vehicle emissions tests and shift to public transportation.
“Citizen, business, and community participation are essential to building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Jakarta,” he added.
JEFF 2025, scheduled for September 25–26 at Cibis Park in South Jakarta, will showcase green innovations, recycled products, and sustainable business initiatives.
The two-day festival will feature creative discussions such as Bersih-bersih Lemari, interactive art installations like Garden of Waste, and programs that allow residents to exchange trash for eco-friendly products.
Attendees can also enjoy an eco market, virtual reality environmental experiences, community performances, treasure hunts, and live music.
“JEFF 2025 serves as a platform for learning, inspiration, and celebration of environmentally friendly lifestyles,” Kuswanto said.
