Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry has expressed interest in expanding cooperation, investment, and market access in Russia, which it considers a “non-traditional market” with strong potential.

Director General of Resilience, Regionalization, and International Industry Access Tri Supondy emphasized the opportunity to build long-term value through collaboration.

Indonesia has been selected as a partner country for INNOPROM 2026, a major industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russia, scheduled for July 6–9, 2026.

“We will not only attend the exhibition, but also pursue broader economic targets, including trade, industry, and investment,” Supondy said.

He emphasized the importance of early preparation: “We have sufficient time to establish networks between business actors and the government for future collaboration.”

Bilateral trade between Indonesia and Russia reached US$3.98 billion in 2024, while Russian investment in Indonesia totaled US$262.8 million, with growth potential in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, and metallurgy.

To boost market access, Indonesia is negotiating multiple FTAs and CEPAs, including with the Eurasian Economic Union.

The country’s BRICS membership is also seen as a strategic step to diversify trade and deepen industrial and technological ties.
