Thousands joined the initiative across multiple regions, including Sumedang, Lebak, Bulukumba, Tangerang, Cimahi, Sorong, Cilegon, and Cianjur, representing government institutions, schools, community groups, and the public.
“Waste management cannot be done alone. Cooperation between central and regional governments, alongside community participation, is essential,” Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said.
He added that strong collaboration is key to sustaining environmental cleanliness and restoring natural functions.
The movement exemplifies cross-sector synergy and supports the government’s broader goal of transforming Indonesia’s waste system into a modern, efficient model.
Several local achievements were reported. In Sumedang, about eight cubic meters of organic and inorganic waste were collected at Sandang Market.

In Lebak, 200 participants in a “Clean Friday” initiative gathered two tons of market waste. In Bulukumba, more than 1,000 volunteers cleaned 98 percent of Merpati Beach during the 15th Pinisi Festival, collecting nearly four tons of processed waste.
Cimahi converted 17 tons of mixed waste into RDF Fluff and Biomass at the Sentiong Waste Facility.
In Sorong, 150 volunteers collected 572 kilograms of market waste, with part delivered to the Sorong Raya Waste Bank. Cilegon gathered 19 tons of recyclable materials worth over IDR 33 million, while Cianjur collected 250 kilograms of plastic waste across four locations.
Hanif said the cleanup builds on last year’s “End Open Dumping: Build a Civilization in Harmony with Nature and Culture” policy, which has closed or revitalized 246 of 343 open-dumping sites nationwide, reducing waste volume by 21.85 percent, or 12.37 million tons annually.
He also announced a national Waste-to-Energy Power Plant project in the Tangerang Raya area, starting at the Jatiwaringin Waste Disposal Site, which aims to model a cleaner, energy-efficient future for Indonesia’s waste management.
