Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry is urging Community Information Groups (KIM) to support the government regulation on electronic systems for child protection (PP Tunas) aimed at creating a safer digital environment for children.

Secretary of Public Information and Communication at the ministry, Mediodecci Lustarini, said here on Sunday that PP Tunas is designed to prevent online risks that threaten children, including cyberbullying, exposure to violent or pornographic content, and online exploitation.

“This regulation is a strategic step to protect children from the dangers of the digital world, ensuring they can access online spaces safely and responsibly,” Lustarini said.

She emphasized that KIM has been at the forefront of digital literacy efforts and can play a crucial role in monitoring and educating communities about safe online practices.

PP Tunas introduces two technological measures to enhance child protection: age verification and integrated parental consent features. These innovations help prevent underage access to harmful content while giving parents tools to guide their children’s online activities.

“The focus is on preventing negative experiences such as cyberbullying, online harassment, and exposure to inappropriate material, as well as safeguarding children from data misuse and addictive behaviors that could affect their growth,” she explained.

The government encourages KIM and local communities to actively participate by promoting digital literacy, supervising children’s online activities, and reporting potential violations by platforms to the Ministry.

Through PP Tunas, the ministry aims to foster a secure and nurturing digital environment, empowering children to explore the internet safely while minimizing exposure to online threats, especially bullying and other harmful interactions.

“Moreover, KIM can also act as collaborators if they find suspected violations by digital platforms by reporting them to Komdigi,” she added.
