Detailing the commitments in a joint press statement alongside the Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers of both countries, Sjamsoeddin identified the strengthening of defense human resources as the first priority.
"We will enhance the human resource investment program for both countries as the foundation for long-term defense cooperation under the Defense Cooperation Agreement between Indonesia and Turkiye," he said.
He said that cooperation will be enhanced in the education and training of military personnel of both countries, in order to enhance professionalism and develop personnel capacity and readiness.
"We will immediately establish a working group to implement cooperation in this regard in both Indonesia and Turkiye," he added.
Indonesia and Turkiye also agreed to enhance cooperation in the defense industry, including the development of advanced defense technology, such as vital military aircraft technology.
Sjamsoeddin expressed his hope that defense cooperation with Turkiye in the area would help Indonesia improve its national defense capacity.
He also stated that Indonesia and Turkiye agreed to increase coordination and cooperation in strengthening peacekeeping forces in Gaza "to assist our brothers and sisters in Palestine and promote regional and global peace and stability."
On the same occasion, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler stated that the meeting between his side and his Indonesian counterpart was very constructive and resulted in agreements on aspects of strategic defense cooperation that needed to be enhanced.
He stated that Indonesia and Turkiye must improve coordination at the international level, particularly in the military aspect, considering the need to improve the efficiency of ongoing peacekeeping missions.
Echoing Sjamsoeddin, Defense Minister Guler also expressed his hope that close defense cooperation between Indonesia and Turkiye would contribute to achieving peace at the regional and global levels.
