"The amount of smallholder business credits in the first quarter exceeded the target. Therefore, as per April 1 the amount of smallholder business credits stood at Rp6.294 trillion, with the number of debtors reaching 463,381," State Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar said here on Friday.
He said the smallholder business credits consisted of Rp4.2 trillion channeled by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Rp587.2 billion by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Rp393 billion by Bank Mandiri, Rp181.8 billion by Bank Syariah Mandiri, Rp80.4 billion by Bank Bukopin, and Rp62.4 billion by Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN).
Meanwhile, the amount of smallholder business credits extended by Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD), which is made up of 13 regional government-owned banks reached Rp760.1 billion, he said.
The smallholder business credits extended by BRI alone comprised micro credits worth Rp3.386 trillion and retail credits worth Rp842.9 billion, he said.
In January 2011 alone, the amount of smallholder business credits reached Rp1.868 trillion with 152,275 debtors. The figure slightly rose to Rp1.896 trillion with 147,493 debtors in February, and jumped to Rp2.529 trillion with 163,613 debtors in March, he said.(*)
