"The Democrat Party (PD) is a party which has not yet permanently been stable so that it is still fragile," Bachtiar said at the parliament building.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Political observer Bachtiar Effendy said that the Democrat Party should be able to handle its internal problem because they had the potential to create rifts.

"The Democrat Party (PD) is a party which has not yet permanently been stable so that it is still fragile," Bachtiar said at the parliament building here on Thursday.

He made the comments in response to a press question with regard to a bribery allegation case which involved Democrat Party General Treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin and Deputy Secretary General Angelina Sondakh.

Rumors have it that the two top PD executives were involved in the alleged bribery case in the construction of a SEA Games athlete house in Palembang, South Sumatra.

However, Bachtiar was convinced that even if the PD was fragile frictions would not happen within the party because it had a central charismatic figure, namely Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

He said that Yudhoyono would not remain silent with regard to the problem that took place within his party.

He said that strong figure Yudhoyono would make the party to remain stable and safe. "What is happening within the party is part of the process of cadres to influence with each other," he added.(*)
