"At least, there will be two teams per month to monitor continuously the latest development in the cases of Indonesian migrant workers who face the punishment," Djemat said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Spokesperson for the Migrant Worker Protection Task Force Humphrey Djemat said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed the decree granting extension to the Migrant Worker Protection Task Force.
"The Presidential Decree was signed last week. We received that news on Thursday, Feb 23, and after that we will hold a comprehensive meeting of the Migrant Worker Protection Task Force to discuss further steps," he told ANTARA News here, on Monday.
Djemat added that the meeting will be held this weekend, but the day has not been confirmed yet. The Migrant Worker Protection Task Force will send two teams to monitor the case of migrant workers who are at risk of the death penalty.
"At least, there will be two teams per month to monitor continuously the latest development in the cases of Indonesian migrant workers who face the punishment," he said.
"We have also assigned attorneys in several countries to accompany the troubled migrant workers," he added.
Djemat said in the near future a team of the Migrant Worker Protection Task Force offering legal aid will visit Malaysia to evaluate the development of the cases of the Indonesian migrant workers that are handled by attorneys in Sabah, Serawak and Kuala Lumpur.
He also explained that the decree mentioned the assignment of Muchtar Arifin as the First Vice Chairman of the Migrant Workers Protection Task Force succeeding Hendarman Supandji. (*)
