"I will establish a monitoring team for KJP."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will set up an independent team to monitor the use of Jakarta Education Card (KJP).

"I will establish a monitoring team for KJP. The team will be set up after all the 332,000 cards are distributed," he said at Jakarta Municipal Building on Monday.

According to Jokowi, the independent team will be assigned many special duties, including monitoring the use of KJP.

"The monitoring of KJP use is currently being done by parties close to the students, such as teachers, headmasters, parents, and education sub-officials, as well as the education inspectorate. We will establish a special and independent team later," he stated.

Jokowi said the monitoring team will consist of college students and non-governmental organizations, among other volunteers.

The KJP program was launched by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta on December 1.

The cards are being distributed directly by the governor, at two locations: Yappenda Senior High School in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, and Paschal Senior High School in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The KJPs were distributed in the form of platinum- and silver-coloured ATM cards from DKI Bank for public schools and private schools, respectively.

"The cash limit for both cards is, however, Rp240,000 per student per month," Jokowi noted.

This year, KJPs will be distributed only to the Senior High School and Vocational High School students.

"In 2013, we will distribute 332,000 KJPs to students from elementary schools and elementary Madrasah Ibtidaiyah schools, junior high schools and junior high Madrasah Tsanawiyah Islamic schools, senior high schools and senior high Madrasah Aliyah schools, as well as vocational high schools.
