"I am convinced the one to be named by the President later for the post would be the one from among professionals, technocrats or bureaucrats," he said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo believed the finance ministerial post would be filled by a professional to continue bureaucratic reform efforts in the office.

"I am convinced the one to be named by the President later for the post would be the one from among professionals, technocrats or bureaucrats," he said here on Monday.

Agus has recently been appointed by the President to become a candidate for the next central bank governor to replace current governor Darmin Nasution who would end his tenure in May.

Agus still has yet to pass the fit and proper test to be carried out by the House of Representatives (DPR) before he would be determined as the next BI governor.

He said he believed with a professional at the helm the bureaucratic reform in the finance ministry since 2007 would continue effectively and communication with monetary authorities would remain good.

"We are optimistic reform efforts in the finance ministry would continue and relations between fiscal and monetary authorities would be better," he said.

He said no one had so far been appointed by the President to replace him and the appointment was the president`s prerogative right.

Agus said for the time being he still carried out his tasks as finance minister while preparing himself to take the test at the DPR.(*)
