We only send six boxers who have been recommended by coach team..."Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News)- The Executive Board of Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PP Pertina) will send six boxers to Taiwan in the face of World Boxing Championship "Taiwan Open 2013" which will take place on August 14 through 20.
The six boxers consisting of three men and three women. The male boxers are Cornelis and Yulio Bria (from Bali), and Yulius Mauk hailing from Central Java. The female boxers are Beatricx Suguro, Warni Halawa and Ester (all from Maluku), according to John Amanupunyo, one of Pertina chairpersons here on Friday.
"We only send six boxers who have been recommended by coach team including Ernesto Morena because we have a limited number of boxers," John said.
With regard to Indonesian target in the Taiwan Open, John said that participation of the Indonesian boxers in the Taiwan Open is only as a test event prior to the SEA Games in Myanmar 2013.
Pertina had also sent eight boxers to the Asia Boxing Championship in Jordan, from June 30 through July 8, 2013, John noted.
The decision to send the eight boxers to Jordan was also aimed at improving quality and mentality of the boxers, he said.
