The suspected suicide bomber, identified by his initial as R, was believed to reside on Jangka Street, Tentram Alley, No. 89B, Sei Putih Barat, Medan Petisah Sub-district, Medan City.
Several police officers maintained strict guard in front of the house of the suspected suicide bomber, while a few others were searching the house.
"Please, take the photograph from outside," a police officer told Antara.

A suspected suicide bombing struck the Medan City Police Station in North Sumatra on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. local time, allegedly committed by a person wearing jacket of Gojek, an online-based motorbike taxi, at its canteen area.
Following this incident, security arrangements were intensified around the city police station located on MH Said Street, Medan. Some personnel of the police's Mobile Brigade Corps stood guard at the entrance gate and managed traffic access to the location.
The National Police's Counterterrorism Squad Densus 88 is yet attempting to identify the perpetrator of the suspected suicide bombing.
"Densus 88, along with Inafis (Indonesia Automatic Fingerprint Identification System) and Labfor (forensic laboratory) teams, are investigating the scene of the bomb blast to ascertain the identity of the perpetrator," Chief of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo stated at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The police have also taken the fingerprints of the suspected suicide bomber for drawing comparisons with those in the e-ID database.
"The fingerprints taken from the perpetrator will be compared with those in the e-ID database at the Dukcapil (Population and Civil Registration Agency). Hopefully, the identity of the perpetrator will be known in not the too distant future," he stated.
