Ternate (ANTARA) - Based on daily reports, 6,217 people have recovered from COVID-19 in 10 districts and cities of North Maluku Province in the past week, showing a continued improvement in recovery rate, the provincial Health Office has informed.



"We hope the residents stay disciplined in following the health protocols (prokes) to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission so that the recovery rate continues to increase," Dr. Rosita Alkatiri, head of disease prevention and control (P2P) at the North Maluku Health Office, said here on Wednesday.



According to the local health office, Ternate City has reported the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 2,166, followed by North Halmahera (977), and Tidore Islands (959). The lowest number of cases have been recorded in Taliabu Island District (73), it said.

Meanwhile, the number of patients undergoing self-isolation in 10 districts and cities in North Maluku has reached 2,866, it added.



"The number of COVID-19 patients undergoing isolation at general hospitals is 121," Alkatiri said.

The number of active coronavirus cases in North Maluku has reached 2,987, with North Halmahera District recording the highest number of cases at 1,184, followed by Ternate City (378), while the lowest number of cases have been seen in Taliabu Island (59). All the patients are undergoing self-isolation, it added.



Meanwhile, based on the daily recapitulation report from health facilities spread across 10 districts and cities in North Maluku, 11,409 health workers, 5,391 elderly people, and 66,139 public servants have been vaccinated against COVID-19 during phase I of the vaccination program.



Mapping conducted in the 10 districts and cities of North Maluku to determine the COVID-19 spread in the province has shown six districts in the orange zone (with moderate risk of virus transmission) and four districts and cities in the red zone (with high risk of virus transmission).
