Jakarta (ANTARA) - The People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), House of Representatives (DPR), and Regional Representative Council (DPD) held a joint plenary session to host the annual State of the Nation Address by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) here, Monday.

The president's state address highlighted a Bill on the 2022 State Budget submitted to the Parliament.

The annual event was held by adhering to strict health protocols, placing a cap on the number of invitees, and conducting Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests a day prior on every person scheduled to attend the session. Only those receiving negative results in the tests were allowed to be present in the Parliament's session room.

Moreover, all those, with a negative result in an antigen swab test, were allowed to enter the Parliament Building complex.

Merely 60 people were allowed to attend the plenary session in adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.

The 60 attendees comprised President Jokowi, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, 10 MPR leaders, 10 DPD's faction/group leaders, five DPR leaders, nine political parties' leaders in the DPR , four DPD leaders, four representatives of sub-regions, and chairmen of state institutions: the State Audit Agency (BPK), Supreme Court (MA), Constitutional Court (MK), and Judicial Commission (KY).

The coordinating minister of human development and culture; coordinating minister for maritime affairs and investment; coordinating minister for political, legal, and security affairs; state secretary minister; cabinet secretary; minister of finance; head of National Development Planning (Bappenas); Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) commander; and National police chief were also present during the meeting.

The Parliament also invited the Indonesian Ulama Council's (MUI's) chairman to the joint session.

Invitees following the virtual State of the Nation Address comprised three former presidents, four former vice presidents, two former chairmen of the MPR, four former chairmen of the DPR, and four former chairmen of the DPD.

As many as 540 DPR members and 124 DPD members, 103 foreign ambassadors and representatives, and 34 governors across Indonesia were also present virtually.
