Jakarta (ANTARA) - Key U.S. defense industry leaders and trade representatives participated in the IndoDefence Expo & Forum (IndoDefence 2022) held in Jakarta on November 2-5.

IndoDefence is Indonesia's official Tri-service Defense, Maritime and Security event, hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Armed Forces.

"After several years' pause due to COVID, this year’s expo is an impressive display of Indonesian and partner defense industry cooperation," Brigadier General Sarah Russ from the U.S. Pacific Air Forces said as noted in a release issued by the US Embassy in Jakarta on Friday.

"The United States is proud to work with the Indonesian military to meet their defense modernization goals," Russ, who is leading the US Department of Defense delegation during IndoDefence Expo 2022, stated.

At the event, the Indonesian government, military, and civilian law enforcement policymakers are directly engaging with U.S. defense industry leaders seeking to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.

The Indonesian government and business are experiencing first-hand the world’s most advanced defense capabilities from the United States, the US Embassy noted in a statement.

According to the embassy, the participation of the U.S. defense industry in regional trade exhibitions, such as IndoDefence, underscores the opportunity for U.S. partners and allies to explore and acquire capabilities tailored to their national defense needs.

The United States is proud to be Indonesia’s largest defense partner in terms of the number of annual exercises and events. Our strong bilateral defense relationship is at the heart of the U.S.-Indonesia strategic partnership, it stated.

Indonesia and the United States share the vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region, including a commitment to freedom of navigation, overflight, and other lawful uses of the sea.

The U.S.-Indonesian defense partnership helps facilitate a free and open Indo-Pacific region where all countries enjoy prosperity and peace.
