Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Audit Department of Malaysia (NADM) has been the State Audit Board’s (BPK)’s strategic partner in the Southeast Asia region for overcoming various problems, Head of the BPK Isma Yatun has said.

"I laud the Auditor General of Malaysia (Nik Azman Nik) for the active contribution and role in NADM, in the ASEANSAI (ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions), Asosai (Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions), and Intosai (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) forums," she said here on Tuesday.

She made the statement after the BPK and NADM signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation for the monitoring of the public sector. The MoU was signed by Yatun and the Malaysian auditor general.

The bilateral cooperation between Indonesia's BPK and NADM has been established for more than 15 years, starting from November 2007.

The MoU was updated on February 12, 2017, but expired on February 12, 2021.

Malaysian Auditor General Majid also lauded BPK's active role in the international community for Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI).

"I express my support for BPK's nomination as the chair of Intosai in 2028," he said.

In addition to the MoU signing, BPK and NADM also held the 21st technical meeting to exchange knowledge about remote auditing and follow-up auditing.

Speaking at the meeting, the head of BPK’s Auditorate II, A. Winarno, explained remote auditing, while the subject of the follow-up audit was delivered by NADM's director of follow-up audit, Mohd. Serjana Ibrahim.

At the end of the meeting, BPK and NADM discussed the next possible topics related to the implementation of the bilateral cooperation.

The possible topics of discussion at the 22nd technical meeting are "Audit on Sharia Compliance,” "Audit of Hajj Financial Management" conducted by Tabung Haji Malaysia, "Follow-up Audit,” and "Audit on Forest Management,” he informed.

"Through these two activities, BPK expects the good cooperation with NADM to continue and bring benefits for the development of the examination capacity in both institutions," Yatun remarked.
