"The total number of voters in our preliminary electoral roll reaches 205,839,518," KPU Chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari stated at the national-level electoral roll recapitulation plenum at the KPU Office here, Tuesday.
The 205 million voters included in the preliminary electoral roll comprise 102,847,040 male voters and 103,006,478 female voters, he noted.
The preliminary electoral roll is produced by reports from 38 provinces, 514 cities and districts, 7,277 sub-districts, and 83,860 villages and local election organizers in Indonesia and abroad, Asy'ari stated.
The KPU head remarked that the number of polling stations for the 2024 Elections in Indonesia and abroad is projected to reach 823,287.
Meanwhile, Asy'ari affirmed that the number of voters in the preliminary roll, finalized by KPU Decision No. 316 of 2023, is subject to change.
"We should understand that the 205 million voters (in the preliminary list) are subject to change. Corrections are possible on the list, as reflected by its name," he remarked.
He said that the KPU local offices in cities and districts, by the mandate of Law No. 7 of 2017 on Elections, have also handed over the preliminary electoral roll to political parties participating in the 2024 Elections.
"The copy of the DPS, by mandate of the Election Law, has been handed over by KPU offices in districts and cities to election participants at respective districts and cities, and political parties at the national level already hold the same list," Asy'ari remarked.
