"The provincial government carries out the Cheap Food Movement through several programs, involving regional-owned enterprises and in collaboration with other stakeholders," Head of the Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Office Suharini Eliawati told ANTARA here on Tuesday.
This September, the Jakarta provincial government has distributed cheap food packages worth Rp126 thousand each to 183 locations.
The 183 locations that obtained the cheap food packages included child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRAs), the Cipinang Rice Market, and butcher shops and slaughterhouses within Dharma Jaya, the city-owned meat company.
Meanwhile, only residents with Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus can buy the cheap food packages.
In addition to the Cheap Food Movement, Eliawati said that her side synergizes with the central government, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Food Agency, the Trade Ministry, the Ministry of Industry, and the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), to help maintain rice prices.

"We will also distribute medium-quality Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) rice to the community with the highest retail price of Rp54,500 per bag of five kilograms in rice shops and modern markets," she remarked.
At the same time, the provincial government is monitoring rice supplies, prices, and quality.
Based on data from the Informasi Pangan Jakarta website that provides information on food prices on Tuesday, the average price of medium-quality rice ranges from Rp12,600 per kg to Rp13,400 per kg.
