Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed hope on Wednesday that the construction of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Office Complex in Nusantara would bolster investors' trust in the development of the new capital city (IKN).

"I hope that the development of the LPS Office Complex in IKN will further shoot up the trust of the people, especially business players and investors," he said during the groundbreaking for the complex in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, followed online on YouTube.

"Because once the LPS starts (working in Nusantara), people will believe that the development of the capital city will be completed soon. An LPS office in IKN will provide a higher level of sense of security (in investing) to the people, business players, and investors," Jokowi explained.

During his opening speech, he noted that the LPS Arthadyaksa Office Complex would be developed in three stages, with the first stage focusing on the main building and the next stages for supporting facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was a testament to the government's readiness and commitment to developing a world-class capital city in Indonesia, he said.

Jokowi further noted that the LPS office is among the infrastructure and facilities being constructed in Nusantara.

He also said that the government is building a toll road spanning 47 kilometers to connect Nusantara to the neighboring city of Balikpapan.

He expressed optimism that the toll road would drastically reduce travel time between the two cities from around 2 hours currently to only 30 minutes.

In November last year, Bank Indonesia initiated the development of its office building in Nusantara. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is also set to follow suit shortly.
