Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono is targeting to ready 12 apartment towers for ASN, Polri, BIN, and Paspampres at the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara by August this year.

He remarked that a total of 47 apartment towers are being developed for ASN, Polri, BIN, and Paspampres in IKN, and now 14 towers have been in topping off stage.

"God willing, 12 apartment towers will have been ready in August," he remarked at a joint meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Thursday.

He noted that progress in the development of housing towers for the National Police (Polri) and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) at IKN had reached 58 percent completion, followed by 53 percent progress for housing towers for civil servants (ASN), and 48 percent for personnel of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).

Meanwhile, progress in the construction of ministerial houses at IKN has reached 91 percent, Hadimuljono added.

The PUPR Ministry is assigned to ensure the availability of infrastructure and facilities at IKN, while the IKN authority will later regulate details regarding tower occupancy.

The minister affirmed that his side is accelerating the construction of housing towers for government employees in the IKN Nusantara core area in Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan.

The residential flats are developed in accordance with the ASN position. The higher the rank, the bigger the flat provided to them. The smallest area for ASN housing is around 98 square meters.

The IKN authority is responsible for ensuring the operational management of the flats built by the PUPR Ministry in order to create small ecosystems of livable residential environments with all the infrastructure and facilities to support the residents' activities in IKN.

In the process of building these housing towers, the PUPR Ministry has applied at least three criteria for implementing development with the principles of environmental, social, and governance (ESG).

Moreover, the ministry is preparing the construction of the State Palace, the palace area, and the Presidential Office to be used for the ceremony to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day on August 17.

The Independence Day celebration will be held at IKN Nusantara as the starting point for the gradual transfer of the country's capital from Jakarta to IKN.
